Strike OUT

December 30, 2022

The birding day started at the Shawangunk Grasslands in search of the Loggerhead Shrike that has been seen on and off for weeks. I was meeting Matt Z for some much-needed guidance on how to use my new camera. We did not see the shrike, but had excellent views of many Northern Harriers, Red-tailed Hawks, Eastern Bluebirds and a meadow lark. A Western Meadowlark had been photographed and confirmed, but this one was too far to ID.

The Newburgh waterfront had lots of Ring-billed gulls! We found one distant immature Iceland gull along with Herring Gulls and Great Black Backed Gulls. I have SO much to learn about taking photographs. Thank you, Matt, for all your help. Always great to see Bruce out there too!
